Singer-composer Mithoon Sharma says he didn’t mean to sound arrogant when he had said that he’ll not sing for any other music composer but himself. "I have never considered myself a serious vocalist. I have always been very committed and sincere as a music director, and will never represent myself as a vocalist. That’s why I will not sing for any other music director apart from my own songs, because I feel confident when I am singing for myself and I doubt if I can ever do justice to someone else’s songs," he says.

Mithoon, who has composed several chartbusters in Bollywood since his entry in 2006, found national success with the song, Tum hi ho, last year. The 29-year-old, who’s basking in the glory and the appreciation he’s recieved, credits his father Naresh Sharma for it. "My dad has given me a very firm lesson that a composer should always focus in the voice for a song, and never allow the voice to get lost in the loud music because then the real power of the song gets lost. And, I have always implemented it. I am thankful to him as his tips have helped me keep my music very spaced out and simple," says the composer, who has often been compared to music maestro AR Rahman.

Although lewd lyrics are heard in several songs these days, Mithoon doesn’t endorse them. "I have a voice and a message that I have to give to the society, and I do it responsibly. This is one common thing that you will always find in my songs. I have always taken a stand that the words which I don’t use even in my day-to-day conversations, I will not use them in my songs."
He further adds, "On a personal level, I just don’t like the objectification of women in songs these days and I am strongly against it. It’s not a part of my vision as a music composer," says Mithoon.
