Gau rakshaks seek arms licence for self-defence
KURUKSHETRA: Even when the state police are facing flak for their failure to nab the killers of cow smugglers, state president of Vishav Hindu Mahasabha Satpal Chauhan demanded that the government should also provide arms license to the gau rakshaks (cow vigilantes) in the state.
Chau han, who was in Kurukshetra on Wednesday, said that the government should also provide arms licence to the gau rakshaks, who help the police to stop cow smuggling.
The gau rakshaks, too, are seeking arms license for themselves. Dharmender Bhardwaj, a gau rakshak of Yamunanagar, said, “Yes we need arms for self protection as gau rakshaks also get life threats from the cow smugglers”,
“Even I received bullet injury two three months ago in Karnal and there was no information about the criminals and police have failed to arrest them”, he added. There are thousands of the people working as gau rakshaks in the state, and 12 rakshak teams are registered in Yamunanagar district alone.
