NEW DELHI: Members of Parliament Arjun Ram Meghwal and Mansukh Mandavia set an example for lawmakers on Tuesday when they shunned their flashy cars for cycles to travel to Parliament.

While the two BJP MPs went to Rashtrapati Bhavan to start a new chapter in their political careers as ministers, they did not forget to stick to their old-preferred mode of transportation.

“I have been using the cycle since April. My other colleagues have been riding these for five-six days. I wish more MPs would become eco-friendly,” Meghwal had earlier told HT.

However, doubts are being raised over whether Meghwal and Mandavia would now be able to travel through cycles. According to home ministry sources, all ministers are given security cover and it may not be advisable for the two to ride on cycles any longer. “In case, they insist on using the bikes, Delhi Police may also give them an advisory,” a source said.
