Amity school student found dead in park, suicide suspected

A 17-year-old Class 12 student of Amity School committed suicide at a park in Sector 44 on Saturday, the police said. A passerby spotted the body in the park near the school and alerted the police.

“The boy was identified with the help of his belongings. Prima facie, it seems that he consumed some poisonous substance. No suicide note was recovered from the spot,” a police officer said.

The police registered a case at the Sector 49 police station and also informed the boy’s parents about the incident.

“His father is a doctor who works with a renowned hospital in Noida. During primary investigation, we found that the boy had an altercation with his family on Friday night, following which he left home. His body was recovered the next day morning,” the officer said.

Police said that the body was sent for an autopsy, the details of which are awaited.

“We are investigating the case from every aspect. We have called his family members, friends and relatives to record their statements to establish the motive behind such an extreme step. Further investigation will depend on the post-mortem report,” the officer said.
