Ballabgarh lynching: Victim Junaid Khan’s father hospitalised after heart attack

Hospital staff said Jalaluddin Khan was stable and would be operated on Tuesday.

Forty six-year-old Jalaluddin, father of Junaid Khan who was lynched by a mob on a train at Ballabhgarh in Haryana, suffered a heart attack on Monday evening following which he was admitted to a hospital.

Jalaluddin’s family members said he was under a lot of stress after one of the accused was granted bail.

Chhaya Malhotra, spokesperson of Metro Hospital at Noida Sector 12 where Jalaluddin was admitted, said his condition was stable.

“Jalaluddin was admitted to our hospital due to a heart attack. Doctors are attending to him as of now,” Chhaya said.

A medical staff attending to Jalaluddin said he would undergo an operation soon.

“We have done angiography on the patient and doctors have noticed a blockage problem in his heart. The patient is responding at the moment and we are feeding him as well. He is stable and will be operated on Tuesday morning,” said the staff.

Jalaluddin’s family members said he was under a lot of stress after one of the accused was granted bail.

“After Junaid was killed, our lives changed completely. Jalaluddin was under lot of stress and his condition deteriorated after the court released one of the accused and reduced his charges,” said Saira, his wife.

On June 22, Jalaluddin’s son Junaid Khan (15) was lynched and stabbed to death by a mob on board a Mathura-bound train when an argument over a seat turned into religious slurs.

One of the four accused, Chandra Prakash, was granted bail after the court found no direct link with the main accused in the murder.

The brutal murder led to a series of protests across India against the rise in incidents of mob violence in India.

Jalaluddin had demanded death sentence for the culprits.
