Greater Noida asks Noida to build approach road on Kisan Chowk bridge

The Greater Noida authority on Thursday wrote to the Noida authority asking them to build an approach road so that the bridge across river Hindon near Kisan Chowk can be used by commuters.

Without the approach road, the widened bridge is not serving its purpose of reducing traffic congestion. Another bridge built across Hindon river near Bisrakh village is also not being used as the Noida authority has not built its approach road either.
“We have already completed work on the two-lane widening of the old bridge across Hindon. But we are unable to address traffic congestion issues that prevail there because a 100-metre road is yet to be built on the Noida side. Once it is built, we will open it so that commuters do not face congestion during peak hours,” said Rajiv Tyagi, general manager, Noida authority.
Thousands of motorists from Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad pass through the Kisan Chowk daily, but there is congestion as the road towards Noida is narrow. Traffic snarls on the bridge are frequent during peak hours.
The Noida and Greater Noida authorities have funded the bridge-widening project. Earlier, the two authorities were supposed to open the widened portion by August 15, but that did not happen as the Noida authority did not complete the approach road in the area under its jurisdiction.
“We have received a letter from the Greater Noida authority on this issue. We will begin work on it very soon,” said Pramod Kumar Aggarwal chief executive officer, Noida authority.
The Noida authority has also failed to build an approach road to connect various areas of Noida with a bridge built across the Hindon river near Bisrakh. This bridge was built to improve connectivity between Noida and Greater Noida.
“We have resolved issues of farmers whose land is located on the site that we need to build the approach road on. We hope to build the approach road within a month,” said Saumya Srivastava deputy chief executive officer, Noida authority.
