Greater Noida:Two wanted men arrested after separate encounters

According to the police, the first encounter took place late Monday night in the Bisrakh area of Greater Noida.

Two wanted men, one of them carrying a reward on his arrest, were injured in two separate encounters in Greater Noida during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

They were both taken to hospitals for treatment.

“We had set up a routine check post at the Galaxy Vega roundabout . The accused, Sonu, and his accomplice, Monti, who were riding a motorcycle, were stopped for checking. They tried to flee and when the police chased them, they opened fire. Sonu was injured in the retaliatory firing and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment,” Anil Kumar Shai, station house officer, Bisrakh police station, said.

The police said that Monti, a resident of Meerut, is on the run.

“We are on the lookout for him. We have seized the motorcycle they were riding on, which was stolen from Delhi. Sonu also has a reward of ₹15,000 on his arrest in Muzzafarnagar,” the SHO said, adding that there are at least 16 cases of robbery, loot and even attempt to murder against him.

In a separate incident near Kasna jail road, a stolen car was recovered after the accused was injured in an encounter with the Greater Noida police.

“A message was flashed across all police units around 1.30am that two men had stolen a Hyundai Accent car from the Knowledge Park area. Around 2 am, the accused reached our checkpoint and when a police team tried to stop them, they fired at us,” Dharmendra Sharma, station house officer, Greater Noida police station, said.

He said that one of the accused, Firoz (28), was injured in the cross firing while his accomplice Raees fled. “Firoz was taken to a hospital for treatment. We have recovered the car and a search is on for Raees,” the SHO said, adding that both men are residents of Loni, Ghaziabad.

“He has cases of loot, robbery and murder registered against him in Delhi, Baghpat, Ghaziabad and Noida,” Sharma said.
