Mahagun society incident: Verification drive in Noida slum areas

Verification forms will have all details, including name, address, contact number and identity card numbers.

The Noida police will conduct verification drives in slum areas of the city following the violence at Mahagun society here which occurred after altercation of a family with a maid.

Police officials said the move will help in maintaining law and order situations, besides they will have data of all the inhabitants. The station house officers have been directed to form teams and get the forms filled at earliest in their jurisdiction.

“Police teams will visit the slum areas to check the documents of the people living there and it will also help us to have their data. With the help of this exercise, everyone will remain under a watch,” said superintendent of police (city), Arun Kumar Singh.

He also said the residents welfare associations (RWAs) has been also asked to collect the forms from the police stations and get the verification of their domestic helps done. After collecting the details of these people, the data will be cross checked with the concerned police stations of their native place.

“People of the slum areas have migrated to urban areas for livelihood from other states. Their details will be checked with police stations of the areas they belong to. If anyone is found with fake credentials, action will be initiated accordingly,” Singh added.

The verification will be completed within a month’s time and forms have been printed for it, an official said. It is estimated that there is population of around 10, 000 people living in the slum areas of the district.

Arun Kumar Singh said the verification forms will have all details, including name, address, contact number and identity card numbers. An individual will be given a separate copy as verification proof by the police station.

“The verification will be done after detailed process, so that everyone remains under watch,” Singh said.
