A 32-year-old man got injured in the chest in Greater Noida on Saturday night when a pistol he was carrying on his waist allegedly accidentally went off, while he was returning home from Delhi.

The man, Rahul Kashyap, is a resident of a Greater Noida-West based village under Eco Tech 3 area. According to the police, Kashyap was travelling in his car from Delhi to Greater Noida after attending a wedding event.

“We received information around 9.30pm that a man had been shot at on a road stretch in Eco Tech3 area and a team was rushed. The man was rushed to Kailash Hospital in Greater Noida and his condition is stable. It was found that man had stopped his car and had gone to the roadside to attend nature’s call. Prima facie, it appears that the man shot himself but we are probing the case,” Anita Chauhan, SHO, Eco Tech 3, said.

Representatives at Kailash Hospital said Kashyap underwent surgery on Sunday. “The gunshot wound was operated on the patient’s chest on Sunday and the bullet was removed. There was also a minor operation on his right shoulder. He is stable now and is under observation,” a spokesperson for Kailash Hospital said.
