Noida: Jewar woman alleges in-laws forced her into prostitution

In the complaint, the woman said that she had married a Faridabad resident in 2015 and moved in with him, after which her in-laws and husband started demanding money.

A 27-year-old woman has filed a case with the Noida women’s police against her in-laws for allegedly forcing her into prostitution in Faridabad area of Haryana.

The police said that the woman, a resident of village Dhansiya in Jewar, reported the matter at the Sector 39 police station two weeks ago and investigation into the matter is underway.

In the complaint, the woman said that she had married Faridabad resident in 2015 and moved in with him, after which her in-laws and husband started demanding money.

The woman said that she had assured them of arranging money from her parents but when she could not do so, they allegedly started thrashing and abusing her.

Station house officer of women’s police station, Anju Tewatia, said that a case has been registered against the woman’s husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law and sister-in-law.

Tewatia said, “We counselled her and then referred the matter to mediation centre of the Surajpur court.”

“The victim told us that her in-laws are involved in a prostitution racket to make easy money. The victim was told to bring them money or join the prostitution racket. An investigation is going on in this matter,” said Tewatia.

The victim also stated that she was asked, many a time, to engage in physical relations with men who visited their house.

On her refusal, her in-laws and husband would abuse her, she alleged.

The police said that the woman managed to return home and has been living with her parents for the last six months.
