Two held for allegedly robbing showroom in Greater Noida
The suspects were identified as Ankush Singh (22) and Yogeshwar Singh (26), both residents of the Dadri area. On the morning of February 18, the two had allegedly entered a Peter England showroom in Dadri market on the pretext of shopping.
Two men in their twenties were arrested by the Dadri police in the intervening hours of Friday and Saturday for their suspected involvement in a robbery at a men’s clothing showroom in the main market of Dadri in February.
The suspects were identified as Ankush Singh (22) and Yogeshwar Singh (26), both residents of the Dadri area. On the morning of February 18, the two had allegedly entered a Peter England showroom in Dadri market on the pretext of shopping.
“After spending some time in the showroom, checking out the merchandise, the two then walked over to the cash counter. One of them brandished a pistol and threatened to shoot the cashier if he didn’t immediately hand over the cash,” Neeraj Malik, station house officer, Dadri police station, said.
He said the duo made away with Rs 45,000 cash from the showroom.
Police have been working on tracing the suspects since then and used the footage from the CCTV cameras in the area as well as the shop to identify the suspects.
“Last night, during a routine checking, we got a tip-off that the suspects may pass by that area. We arrested them around 1.05am from near the Jarcha road crossing,” the SHO said.
Police also recovered a Splendor motorcycle from Yogeshwar. “It’s the same bike that had been used as a getaway vehicle during the robbery. We also recovered a pistol from them,” Malik said.
Police also recovered Rs 2,500 on Yogeshwar and Rs 3,700 from Ankush, which they claim is part of the Rs 45,000 stolen from the showroom. “They claim that they have spent the rest of the money,” the SHO said. The two were later remanded in jail.
