“Though I had no pressure, it’s always nice to get a win under your belt on the final day of season. I was a bit off-colour yesterday, so came prepared this morning to give my best,” the 17-year-old said.

“Overall, it was a very competitive season. Guys like Presley Martono and Rinus van Kalmthout did very well. They always kept me on my toes. It feels nice to take home a trophy after such an intense season.”

The teenager was all praise for the refurbished Chennai track too, saying he was pleased to see the improvements. “The track here is good. It has improved a lot from what it had to offer last year. There are still some areas where it can be made better but for now, I have nothing to complain. I just want to party with my friends and family members now,” added Drugovich.

Indonesia’s Martono finished second in the final tally of drivers’ standings while Netherlands’ van Kalmthout came third.
