Ex-MP's wife Lovely Anand moves HC

Lovely Anand, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for the killing of Gopalganj DM, files an appeal in Patna HC against the order.

Lovely Anand, who was sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court for the killing of Gopalganj district magistrate by a mob 13 years ago, filed an appeal in Patna High Court against the order today.

Her advocate Chandra Mohan Jha in the petition pleaded that she was not guilty.

Additional sessions judge Ram Krishna Rai had awarded capital punishment to her husband Anand Mohan, former MP and JD(U) leader, Akhlaq Ahmed, a former MLA from Bikramganj and RJD leader and Arun Kumar on October 3 in connection with the brutal killing of the district magistrate G Krishnaiah on December 5, 1994.

Besides Lovely, a former MP from Vaishali, the court had also sentenced Vijay Kumar Shukla alias Munna Shukla, a sitting JD (U) MLA from Lalganj, Shashi Shekhar and Harendra Kumar to life imprisonment.

She and her husband Anand Mohan, a former MP from Sheohar and was leader of the then Bihar People's Party (BPP) were accused of inciting a mob to lynch Krishnaiah.

The petition is likely to be take up by the High Court next week.
