In the latest incident two pass-out girls of Magadh Mahila College were allegedly harassed by four students of Patna College on Friday morning.
The brother of one of the two girls, Sumeet Ranjan, a passout student of Commerce College (Patna University), due to appear in ASI physical examination in New Delhi, was brutally assaulted when he tried to protect his sister from harassment.
The assault and harassment, both happened in full view of thousands of people. They did not react, again!
The Patna police reached the spot after two hours when local TV channels flashed the news. Finding the situation going out of control, a police team from Pirbahore police station headed by DSP Manoj Tiwari tried to take charge of the situation.
The commotion continued even as Sumeet had to be admitted to Patna Medical College Hospital intensive care unit (ICU), with serious wounds.
He has a fractured leg and a broken head. Eyewitnesses said the girls were allegedly teased by some youths, who also attacked the brother of one of the girls, when he tried to protect his sister from miscreants.
The victim girls told the police, that the incident took place when they came to Patna College campus for a morning stroll.
"We has been coming to the campus for the last four days with our brothers Niranjan and Sumeet," they added.
The girls, both inmates of a private hostel in Makhania Kuan area, said they were facing vulgar comments and eve teasing for the last four days.
"We informed our brothers through cell phone, when it went out of control. They tried to reason with the attackers, but they retaliated brutally," they added.
The girls said Sumeet, was also on morning stroll. "Four youths, said to be inmates of Jackson hostel, passed lewd comments on us. As Sumeet and Niranjan came to our rescue, the youths set upon them.
Later, a group of students suddenly emerged and started beating them, which left Sumeet seriously injured," they added.
Sumeet said, four youths tried to molest his sisters. "We requested them not to indulge in indecent behavior. But the anti-socials ignored our plea. Later, I picked accompanied the girls from there and dropped them outside the college campus," he added.
He said, "When I returned to the college campus, more than 25 inmates of Jackson hostel were ready to attack me with hockey and sticks. They swooped down on me. I fainted on the ground after the incident," he added.
Four students suspended
The City SP said a case had been lodged with Pirbahore police station against four youths.
"Police are also investigating the matter as to how the girls entered the college campus unauthorisedly. We will also take stern action against the girls. The college administration has suspended four students of Patna College involved in the incident. Efforts are on to trace them," he added.
Police sources said the college administration has suspenden Mrityunjay Amardeep, Satyam and Varun of Patna College. "Police have detained a youth for further interrogation," said a police officer.
