One dead, three injured after under-construction flyover collapses in Bihar’s Sasaram

The under-construction overbridge collapse at Sasaram disrupted train movement on the Grand Chord section of the Howrah-New Delhi route.

Patna: One person was killed when an under-construction railway overbridge collapsed on the railway track at Sasaram in Bihar’s Rohtas district , 134 km west of Patna, on Saturday, police said.

It disrupted the train movement on the Grand Chord section of the Howrah-New Delhi route, the police said.

“A labourer engaged in construction of the overbridge died on the spot after a big portion crushed him. Three other persons were injured in the mishap,” the railway police said.

A railway official at Sasaram, however, denied reports of several others being trapped in the rubble.

He said heavy rainfall in the last two days might have led to the collapse.

“But it is a matter of investigation as to what caused the collapse,” he said.
