The poor student, who was first admitted to the Chiraiya primary health centre in a serious condition, has been referred to Motihari Sadar Hospital.

Chiraiya SHO Sikandar Kumar told HT that in the FIR lodged with the police station, family members of ?Vikki alleged that Vikki was thrashed before one of his hands was broken. Detailing the FIR, the SHO said it was alleged that Vikki was beaten up after he asked for a scholarship from the headmaster as he belongs to a very poor family. Block education officer Mohan Chowdhary said the matter was being ?investigated. “The headmaster will be booked if the charges are proved,” he said.

The headmaster, however, denied the charges and said Vikki had fallen in his own house. Family members are blackmailing me for reasons best known to them, he added.
