Qaeda suspect held in Bihar

Ghulam Rasool Khan, an Afghan holding a Pakistani passport and having links with terror outfits Al-Qaeda and Taliban, was arrested in Purnia district in northeastern Bihar. HT Correspondent reports.

Ghulam Rasool Khan, an Afghan holding a Pakistani passport and having links with terror outfits Al-Qaeda and Taliban, was arrested in Purnia district in northeastern Bihar on Monday.

He admitted on Tuesday that he was in league with the two organisations, police said.

During his interrogation, he said he had worked in the Swat valley (in Pakistan’s North-West Frontier Province) and Kandahar (in southern Afghanistan) in 2004-05.

Khan was arrested on a local train that was on its way to Katihar (250 km north-east of Patna). He was planning to sneak into Bangladesh through the international border in Purnia, the police said.
