He admitted on Tuesday that he was in league with the two organisations, police said.
During his interrogation, he said he had worked in the Swat valley (in Pakistan’s North-West Frontier Province) and Kandahar (in southern Afghanistan) in 2004-05.
Khan was arrested on a local train that was on its way to Katihar (250 km north-east of Patna). He was planning to sneak into Bangladesh through the international border in Purnia, the police said.
