In photos: UP votes in phase 1 of Assembly election
Voting for the first phase of the Assembly election in Uttar Pradesh began on Wednesday with 2.27 crore voters of 58 constituencies set to decide the fate of 623 candidates. This phase is covering the Jat-dominated belt of the state's western region. Eligible voters were seen exercising their franchise amid a cold wave and dense fog and a heavy security cover.
