A flooded dormitory of the CRPF base camp following heavy monsoon rains in Dibrugarh. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said 145 villages are under water and 3,435 hectares of crop areas have been damaged. Around 62,400 people are suffering due to flood in Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Barpeta, Chirang, Golaghat, Jorhat and Dibrugarh districts. (PTI)

An employee of SpiceJet working in the belly of an aircraft parked at a bay in Kolkata airport died around 1:30 am on Wednesday after a hydraulic door accidentally closed on him. According to personnel of ground staff working at the airport, the flaps of a door crushed Rohit Virendra Pandey. (PTI)

On Wednesday, a train driver rescued a man who had been knocked down by the train the former was driving. He also took him to hospital. Train driver B Narayan Rao was piloting the Baripada-Balasore DMU train early this morning when it ran over daily labourer Chittaranjan Hati soon after the train left Bhanjpur station at 3.22 am. Hati who was reportedly intoxicated with ganja could not hear the siren of the train. (HT File)
