Cyclone Mandous brings heavy rainfall before hitting Tamil Nadu coast | Pics
As Cyclone Mandous approaches Tamil Nadu coast and Puducherry, south Andhra Pradesh remains on a high alert too. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the storm is expected to “weaken” before it makes landfall but still, it has drenched several districts of the affected states due to continuous moderate to heavy rainfall over the past two days. ‘Mandous’, the name is a suggestion by the United Arab Emirates, one of the 13-member nations of the World Meteorological Organisation and the United Nations economic and social commission for the Asia Pacific panel on tropical cyclones. The IMD has also warned states to brace for a further downpour on Saturday as the storm is expected to “cross the coast between Puducherry and Sriharikota around Mamallapuram on the intervening night of December 9-10”.
