Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi joined the party's ongoing 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' on Thursday in Karnataka's Mandya district. Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar welcomed her and said, "We are proud that Sonia Gandhi has come to walk on the streets of Karnataka. We are coming to power in the state, and BJP is on the way to shutting its shop." The Congress has launched the yatra with an aim to strengthen the party's grassroots level connection. The padyatra, led by Rahul Gandhi, began on September 7 and will cover 3,570 km from Kanyakumari to Kashmir in 12 states and two union territories over a period of five months
