On Sunday morning, officials of Pimpri-Chinchwad police were alerted regarding a man’s charred body found at Hindustan Antibiotics ground. The body was found lying in the ground by children who had come there to play cricket.

The victim has been identified as Ajay Nagose, 19, a resident of Gandhinagar, in Pimpri Chinchwad.
Nagose used to work in the canteen of the antibiotic company. The victim was found to have sustained head injuries. According to police officials, the injuries were caused by either a brick or a cement block. The police suspect that Nagose was set ablaze, after he sustained head injuries.
“On Saturday morning, Nagose who lives with his mother, left home informing that he was going to work. At 10pm his mother called him to enquire when he was returning. He replied saying he was on a night shift. According to our initial investigation, Nagose was spotted on the canteen’s CCTV (closed circuit television) footage leaving the canteen alone by 10.27pm and later spotted with an unidentified person near the spot where his body was found.
We are currently in the process of identifying the person he met,” said Kalyan Pawar, senior police inspector, Pimpri police station.
The officials of Pimpri police station under Pimpri Chinchwad police commissioner jurisdiction are investigating the case.
Nagose’s body has been sent to Sassoon General hospital for post-mortem .
A case under Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (destruction of evidence) of Indian Penal Code has been registered against unidentified persons at Pimpri police station.
