Jagtap, who is also the councillor of Saswad municipal council, runs an eatery on the Pune-Baramati road. Pune rural police raided his eatery after getting information that liquor was being sold at there despite the SC ban.
Congress leader from Purandar tehsil of Pune district, Manohar Jagtap, was arrested by the police in connection with sale of illicit liquor. He has been sent to the Yerwada jail for police custody.
Jagtap, who is also the councillor of Saswad municipal council, runs an eatery on the Pune-Baramati road. Pune rural police raided his eatery after getting information that liquor was being sold at Jagtap's eatery despite a ban by the Supreme Court.
Rural police conducted the raid on the eatery and seized a large stock of liquor bottles. He was produced before the court and was granted police custody. He has been sent to the Yerwada jail.His eatery falls within 500 metres of the state highway. The Supreme Court had banned the sale of liquor within 1,000 metres of national highways and 500 metres of state highways.
Pune-Baramati road has several eateries and restaurants where liquor was available before the Supreme Court order. Most of them are closed now.
