Pet admit cages made available at three clinics in Pune
Pet owners have been supporting the trend, stating more such admit cages are required
Veterinary clinics in Pune have marked a trend of admit cages for ailing pets and animals in the past one year.
Pet owners have been supporting the trend, stating more such admit cages are required. Since the past year, Pune has come up with three new centres that provide admission facilities for pets.
The three new centres are Pet Aid centre, Kalyaninagar; Raintree Veterinary Clinic and Rehabilitation Centre, Ghorpadi and Crown Vet, Kalyaninagar.
Dr Milind Hatekar, owner of Pet Aid centre and member of Pet Practitioners Association of Pune, said, “We observed that owners find it difficult to look after an ailing pet who is in pain and constantly vomiting, needing continuous medication, at home. We have five admit cages with us at Kalyaninagar.”
Dr Laila Fernandez, owner of Raintree Veterinary Clinic and Rehabilitation Centre said, “We have an intensive/ critical care unit for the pets. Pets that are extremely sick and need critical, post-operative care are admitted in the IPD (inpatient department).”
Raeesa Jodha, activist and zoologist, who looks after rescued stray dogs said, “In a month at least three dogs are rescued and they need immediate health check up, sterilisation and vaccination.Dogs require admission for sterilisation and need to be under observation for a maximum of five days. We need Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), X-Ray and laboratory for the pets, under one roof.”
