PMC’s former health department head Anil Ravetkar passes away
During his service, he handled many important responsibilities and managed to curtail the effects of many disease outbreaks, including swine flu and plague, and started the tradition of issuing licences to food joints.
The Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) former health department head Anil Ravetkar passed away recently on Sunday, February 11. He was 72.

Ravetkar worked as the health department head in PMC for almost 25 years. Ravetkar’s tenure as health department head was the longest period anyone has held the position in the civic body. According to PMC officials, Ravetkar was the only officer to have served for 25 years in the health department.
He had brought in many changes during his tenure. During his service, he handled many important responsibilities and managed to curtail the effects of many disease outbreaks, including swine flu and plague, and started the tradition of issuing licences to food joints.
He also played an important role in strengthening the health facility in Pune. Ravetkar was also associated with various social organisations in the city. His final rites were conducted at Vaikunth Crematorium.
