PUNE A 20-year-old man was arrested and sent to police custody for four days in a case for the rape and kidnap of a minor. Tushar Medhe, 20, went missing along with a 17-year-old girl from his neighbourhood in Lohegaon. The girl’s parents lodged a missing complaint at Lohegaon police post on October 6. A case under Section 363 (for kidnapping) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered based on the complaint filed by the girl’s father. Police sub-inspector (PSI) Deepak Jadhav of Lohgaon police station was investigating the missing case.“We tracked them to Bhusawal and arrested him from there. The girl’s father filed a complaint of kidnapping and we updated the charges after finding them in Bhusawal,” PSI Jadhav said.While the boy has studied till Class 12, the girl is a student of Class 11 at a local junior college, according to PSI Jadhav. While Medhe was sent to police custody, the girl was sent to Sassoon hospital for the medical examination prescribed in a rape case.Along with Section 363, Medhe was booked under Section 376 (for rape) and Section 3 (for penetrative sexual assault) and 4 (liable to fine) of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. Medhe will be produced in the local court on October 17 again.
