At least 350 learning licence applications in Pune out of 10,000 applications in the state were affected as the server of the regional transport office (RTO) in the state faced technical glitches on Wednesday, May 8.
The Pune RTO handles 400-450 applications of learning licences daily. However, they could only serve 40 applicants on May 8.
The technical snags in the RTO server were fixed by 4 pm on Wednesday, and on Thursday, the RTO was back to serving 400-450 applications.
Sanjay Raut, deputy regional transport officer, said, “The applicants who had scheduled appointments on Wednesday were asked to come on Thursday. We have already started looking into the applications which were affected due to the technical snag.”
There are 50 RTOs in Maharashtra which faced the same problem and applicants had to return home despite the fact that they had scheduled appointments. Shekhar Channe, transport commissioner of the state, on Wednesday, had directed all the RTO offices in the state to look into the issue of applicants who had to return despite booking appointments.
Pune RTO has five places under its jurisdiction viz. Pune city, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Baramati, Solapur and Akluj.
Meanwhile, in its bid to centralise the databases of all the RTOs and make data available to all offices, the ministry of road transport and highways created and linked all its systems to the two portals named Vahan and Sarathi. Both the portals faced technical snags on Wednesday.
