The 103-run partnership in 86 balls for the fifth wicket between Sushrut Sawant and Shubh Dubey did the trick as the duo helped Varroc A-team to put a total of 157 runs for the loss of six wickets in 25 overs.
Home team Varroc A-team was 4 down for 30 in eight overs before Sawant and Dubey took the control. “Our spinners did not bowl well also our fielding – these were the two reasons for our defeat. We could have bowled them out under 100 runs,” said Avdhoot Bendarkar, captain, HK Bounce Cricket Academy.
Sawant and Dubey rotated the strike for few overs before started to hitting boundaries to spinners. The duo also took advantage of miss-fielding by HK Bounce Cricket Academy.
“I was not worried when we were four down in first 10 overs. I knew that once the ball stops swinging it will be easy for us to score. I just told Dubey to keep rotating the strike and he supported me nicely,” said Sushrut Sawant, captain of Varroc A-team who scored 62 of 54 balls.
Sawant was brilliant against spinners as he used late cut shots nicely against them. The partnership was broken in 22nd over when in rush to take a second run – Dubey got run out at non-striker end. Varroc had managed to put
133 runs till then on the scoreboard. In the last three overs, Soham Kambale’s quick 17 runs in 8 ball helped Varroc to put on 157 on board.
OPENERS FAIL TO FIRE

After putting on 35 runs in first seven overs, captain Bendarkar played shot in the air and was caught by Sawant on the bowling of Kartik Shewale. The left arm off-spinner Shewale strikes again in his next over as took the wicket of Jogi who was timing the ball nicely.
“I was just worried about the left-handed batsman Jogi, he was hitting good shots so once he was back in the pavilion I was relaxed and had confidence that my bowlers will pull off the victory,” said Bhushan Suryavanshi, coach of Varroc A-team.
Once the openers were out, HK Bounce Cricket Academy failed to accelerate and ended the match putting 80 runs on the board for the loss of 8 wickets in 25 overs.
