After viral video, Canadian defence minister Harjit Sajjan apologises for littering
The reconciliation took place at the local gurdwara in the presence of the members of the Punjabi Sikh community of the area.
Canadian defence minister Harjit Sajjan accepted his mistake after he was filmed throwing cherry seeds and littering a neighbourhood in Osoyoos, Oliver (Canada). With this the controversy was amicably resolved as the local Punjabi NRI shopkeeper Pamma Chauhan, who had shot the video, too apologised for his behavior.
The reconciliation took place at the local gurdwara in the presence of the members of the Punjabi Sikh community of the area. Notably, the members of the community expressed strong resentment over the action of Chauhan for “humiliating” the prominent personality representing them. Some of them even suggested his social boycott, said a report on a website tracking NRI news.

Those present on the occasion told the website that, upset over the video’s circulation, the area’s community members invited Sajjan to Oliver’s Bhav Sagar Sikh Temple where he and Chauhan expressed regrets over their actions and apologised in the presence of the congregation. The leaders of the local community also apologised to Sajjan. Sajjan was in Osoyoos for vacationing.
He also addressed the congregation saying there was no need on part of the community leaders to be apologetic as he graciously admitted his mistake. At the same time, he also expressed displeasure over the rude behavior of Chauhan but advised the community leaders to close the chapter.
