The family of Ashutosh Maharaj that lives at Lakhnaur village of Madhubani district of Bihar is likely to visit the Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan (DJJS) headquarters in Nurmahal in a day or two, demanding the body of the sect head to perform the last rites.
The family led by son of Ashutosh, Dalip Jha, who is sitting on a fast unto death for the last two days, has received great response from the locals.
"Many of our local organisations are of the view that we should shift our protest to Nurmahal in Jalandhar outside the dera to press the DJJS to hand over the body to us. We will arrive in Jalandhar shortly, probably by Tuesday," Jha told HT from Bihar.
The family is also hopeful of getting support from different political parties, including former Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi. "He is likely to visit our dharna venue on Sunday evening. We will make a final strategy about moving to Jalandhar," said Mohan Jha, Dalip Jha's brother-in-law who is also sitting on fast.
Mohan revealed that the officials of Madhubani district administration were at their village and were pursuing them to stop the fast unto death. "We are hopeful of getting support from the Bihar government," he said.
However, the DJJS management remained unfazed with the developments in Bihar and continued to claim that Ashutosh was in "samadhi".
Attacking Puran Singh, who has moved the Punjab and Haryana high court, the DJJS management on Sunday issued a statement in the name of Tirath Ram Sandhu, former president, municipal council, Nurmahal, who termed Puran Singh as a controversial man.
Meanwhile, Puran Singh is likely to file a fresh PIL in the high court, urging it to appoint government doctors to see Ashutosh's body lying in a mortuary on the dera premises.
