Kaur was an occupant of room number 22 in Savitri Bai Phule Hall and was declared brought dead at Government Multispeciality Hospital, Sector 16. Police said the reason behind the death was not clear from the autopsy report, following which her viscera samples were sent to central forensic laboratory.

Tarlochan Singh, the deceased’s father, said they are not suspecting anyone’s involvement behind her death. He has however sought a police investigation in the case.

Singh said that Loveleen never complained about any medical problem and that she was the most intelligent of his three daughters. She got many awards in Gurdaspur. Loveleen’s roommate Money Kamboj said on Wednesday at 9:30 pm Loveleen went to bed after dinner. In the morning, she did not wake her up and went for her class. When she returned, she found her sleeping in the same posture. Kamboj said that Loveleen did not respond when she tried waking her up.

She was rushed to hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. A university official said Loveleen’s room has been sealed.
