Bribe ‘sting’: No FIR yet against cop caught on camera by minister Manpreet Badal

A day after the sting operation conducted by finance minister Manpreet Badal in which he caught two head constables on camera taking bribe, the Khanna police is examining the footage and has marked a departmental inquiry against the two cops. The inquiry has been entrusted to superintendent of police (SP), detective, Satnam Singh.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP ) Khanna Rajjit Singh Hundal said that no FIR has been registered as yet and they will take further action against the cops, who were suspended on Thursday, once the inquiry report is out.

He also said that there has been no written complaint in the case.

On Thursday, finance minister Manpreet Badal was on way to Chandigarh from Ferozepur via Ludhiana after attending the martyrdom day function of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev at Hussainiwala border when he witnessed the cop accepting bribe.

Manpreet was driving his Toyota Innova SUV when he saw the cops accepting bribe from a commuter at Gurthali Bridge. Manpreet filmed the episode through his mobile camera. He then called the commissioner of police, Ludhiana and sent him the video on Whatsapp.
