Church priest shot dead in Ludhiana

The priest, Sultan Masih, 50, was talking to someone over the phone outside the church when two masked men fired three bullets at him before fleeing.

Two motorcycle-borne assailants shot dead a priest of a church in Peeru Banda mohalla of the Salem Tabri area here around 9pm.

The priest, Sultan Masih, 50, was talking to someone over the phone outside the church when two masked men fired three bullets at him before fleeing.

He was rushed to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where he died. The police have sounded an alert and a hunt has been launched to nab the assailants.

The victim lived on the first floor of the church “Temple of God”.

Commissioned of police RN Dhoke said a case has been registered against unidentified assailants at the Salem Tabri police station.

The police are also scanning the CCTVs footage to trace the accused.
