Ex-SAD councillor alleges false implication by police

Former SAD councillor in Maur municipal council (MC), Nirmal Singh, husband of Manjit Kaur, who unsuccessfully contested the civic body poll from ward number 7, has alleged that he has been falsely implicated in the case as he was not present in the town at the time of the clash that took place in Maur Khurd area on Friday.

Former SAD councillor in Maur municipal council (MC), Nirmal Singh, husband of Manjit Kaur, who unsuccessfully contested the civic body poll from ward number 7, has alleged that he has been falsely implicated in the case as he was not present in the town at the time of the clash that took place in Maur Khurd area on Friday.

Nirmal Singh, while addressing a press conference here on Sunday, said that he was in Delhi on the day of the clash and urged the SAD high command to intervene in the matter and act against the culprits.

SHO, Maur, Gurdeep Singh, said that the police were verifying the complaints by both factions and will establish who was involved in the clash and who was not present there.

The police have booked as many as 27 people by name and 70 unidentified others of both factions after a clash between two SAD factions in the Maur Khurd area under ward number 7 of Maur MC.

The police had to fire in air to control the mob. As many nine persons were injured in the clash in which stones were pelted at each other by members of the factions.
