Gurdaspur boy wins gold in Asian junior judo competition

Gurdaspur boy Jasleen Singh has brought laurels to the state and the country by winning a gold medal in the 66 kg category in the ongoing 18th Asian Junior Judo Championship at Hong Kong in China on Thursday.

Gurdaspur boy Jasleen Singh has brought laurels to the state and the country by winning a gold medal in the 66 kg category in the ongoing 18th Asian Junior Judo Championship at Hong Kong in China on Thursday.

He reached the top position by defeating traditional champions China, Japan and Korea.

The national anthem of India was played in this championship after a period of ten years while Jasleen Singh seized the gold by defeating Korea in the final.

Punjab Judo Association president Partap Singh Bajwa has congratulated Jasleen Singh, his coach and parents on the grand success of Jasleen who is Class-12 student of local Dhan Devi School.

Gurdaspur Judo Training Centre Incharge Amarjit Shastri said that Jasleen Singh had also won a gold in the Under-17 Asian Judo Championship held in China in August this year.
