HCS-judicial paper leak: Chandigarh police finally register case against three accused

The examination for 109 HCS (judicial) posts was conducted on July 16. Following a petition in the high court in August, a HC probe panel had found that the paper got leaked.

The Punjab and Haryana high court on Tuesday declined to implead Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as a party in the case pertaining to the alleged leak of question paper of the Haryana Civil Service (judicial) examination.

The HC full bench comprising justice Rajesh Bindal, justice Rajan Gupta and justice GS Sandhawalia observed that the FIR was being registered at Chandigarh and the special investigation team (SIT) has been constituted. “.. hence, at this stage we do not find any reason to implead CBI as party to the present petition,” said the while hearing a petition seeking a CBI probe.

The SIT is headed by superintendent of police (SP-crime and investigation) Ravi Kumar. The examination for 109 HCS (judicial) posts was conducted on July 16. Following a petition in the high court in August, a HC probe panel had found that the paper got leaked.

The panel had also recommended registration of an FIR against Balwinder Kumar Sharma, registrar (recruitment), whose name had figured in the paper leak case, and two candidates.
