Jalandhar: Woman ASI caught taking bribe

A woman assistant sub-inspector (ASI) posted at the Bhargo Camp police station in Jalandhar was caught red-handed accepting `3, 000 bribe on Friday.
A vigilance bureau spokesperson said ASI Kamaljit Kaur allegedly demanded `5,000 bribe for handing over a copy of divorce agreement to Shiv Dayal, the complainant.
Dayal, a resident of Basti Bawa Khel in the city, had filed for divorce with his wife.
He struck a deal at `3,000 with the ASI and informed the vigilance bureau about this.
Acting on the complaint, a bureau team nabbed the ASI while receiving the gratification from Shiv Dayal. The money was recovered from her.
A case under sections 7, 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, was registered against her at the vigilance bureau police station in Jalandhar.
