With relentless efforts of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) team, the 222-km Manali-Leh highway was thrown open for vehicular traffic on Saturday. Lt General RM Mittal, BRO, inspected the road and lauded the efforts of the team.

The highway was closed on October 31 last year due to snowfall at Baralacha Pass.

BRO commander KP Rajendra said, "Despite several challenges and inclement weather, we succeeded in clearing the snow from the highway."

The BRO is also clearing snow on Manali-Leh highway from Gulaba since March 19 this year and has deployed 22 snow-clearance equipment and 300 people to execute the work.

The road is important as army vehicles transport essential commodities to border areas of Leh-Ladakh.
