No reflectors on road, drivers face risk to life amid fog
It is becoming increasingly difficult for people here to drive on the national highway and various link roads in the absence of reflectors on the roads, especially when the area gets engulfed in dense fog and the visibility turns zero. It is not unusual for the commuters to get trapped on these roads for hours these days.

It is not unusual for the commuters to get trapped on these roads for hours these days. Even as the residents have been demanding radium glow signs on both sides of the road, the authorities concerned are least bothered about it.
Madan Lal, a car driver, said he drove comfortably up to Pathankot from Jalandhar but had to struggle to reach his village Gandla Lahri on the Pathankot-Sujanpur road amid foggy conditions as there were no glow signs along the road.
"I once fell in a deep gorge after I could not see through the dense fog which could have been avoided had reflectors been placed on the road," he said.
Most of the roads are administered by mandi boards.
There was a need for reflectors on the roads, said newly elected zila parishad chairman Goverdhan Gopal.
"I will take up this matter with the deputy commissioner and also the heads of the department concerned to install reflectors on all the roads," he said.
