SAD (A) state general secretary Gurnail Singh said that the Badal government had no right to remain in power.

The protesters also burn the effigies of union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, cabinet ministers Daljit Singh Cheema and Bikramjit Singh Majithia and the five priests of Akal Takht.

“People who have confessed to have torn the pages of Guru Granth Sahib are doing so under political pressure. It will be a long haul before calm is restored and the community wants stern action against the culprits,” he said. SAD (A) has also been receiving the support of several student bodies of district.
