Police rough up ETT teachers ; outside CPS Singla's house

Protesting members of the Elementary Teachers Training (ETT) Union were roughed up by the police outside the residence of local MLA and chief parliamentary secretary Sarup Chand Singla in the Aggarwal colony here on Thursday.

Protesting members of the Elementary Teachers Training (ETT) Union were roughed up by the police outside the residence of local MLA and chief parliamentary secretary Sarup Chand Singla in the Aggarwal colony here on Thursday.

As part of their ongoing statewide protest demanding bringing ETT teachers under the ambit of the state education department, the protesters had announced o gherao the house of leaders. Over 50 protesters were removed by the police from in front of the house.

President of the district union Gurjit Singh Jassi said that ETT teachers have been demanding bringing them under state education department, but the government has not paid heed towards their demand following which they have been forced to resort to protest.
