PSPCL fines four consumers Rs 2.99 lakh for theft

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has imposed a fine of Rs 2.99 lakh on four consumers, including a branch manager of Punjab State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (Markfed) for allegedly stealing power on Tuesday.

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has imposed a fine of Rs 2.99 lakh on four consumers, including a branch manager of Punjab State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (Markfed) for allegedly stealing power on Tuesday.

Baljinder Singh, in-charge of the special anti power theft police station, Ludhiana, said, "We received a tip-off that people were stealing power at Markfed godowns in Nihal Singh Wala sub division in Moga.

Our flying squad and senior officials of PSPCL reached Nihal Singh Wala and found that the power was being drawn directly from an electricity poll without metering. Markfed has been fined Rs 1.06 lakh."

Police and officials raided Gajiana village, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Nagar, Moga and Nihal Singh Wala and fined three people.
