A man allegedly murdered his uncle after he suspected the latter of having an illicit relationship with his mother in Dhuri sub-division of Sangrur district.

The victim, Lila Singh (50), was missing for the past 18 days and the police recovered his body from a septic tank from the house of his nephew Tarsem Singh alias Ghuggi at Kumbarwal village on Sunday.

The family had filed a missing complaint around three weeks ago. A case under Sections 302 (murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to save offender) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against five persons on charges at the Dhuri (Sadar) police station. The other accused are Tarsem’s brother Jugraj Singh alias Kala, former’s wife Sarabjit Kaur, their son Honey and mother Amarjeet Kaur.

“According to our preliminary probe, Tarsem murdered the victim with a sharp-edged weapon. We have sent the body to the Dhuri civil hospital for post-mortem. No arrest has been made so far,” said police.
