Railways to create awareness on safety among passengers

With the summer vacation round the corner, rush at the railway stations as well as in trains has started increasing so the railways has planned to make the passengers aware about the safety measures.

With the summer vacation round the corner, rush at the railway stations as well as in trains has started increasing so the railways has planned to make the passengers aware about the safety measures.

The railways will make the people aware about the modus operandi of jeharkhurani and other gangs.

Divisional railway manager (DRM) Anuj Prakash said the number of passengers increase manifold during summers so instructions have been issued to senior divisional safety commissioner of Railway Protection Force (RPF) regarding awareness. “The passengers will be made aware through loudspeakers, streetplays and video clips. The video clips will be played on the modus operandi of the jeharkhurani and other gangs, who become active during rush season, so that people can keep themselves safe. Besides, posters will also be displayed and streetplays on the safety procedures will be enacted at the stations like Ludhiana, Amrtisar, Jalandhar and Jammu.

Station superintendents have been asked to keep a check on the passengers on the foot overbridges and at the reservation counters. Railway Protection Force cops will keep tab on the touts active on reservation counters.

DRM Anuj Prakash said, “Our motive is to ensure safety and for this, it's necessary for the passengers to be vigilant. If they come across any suspicious activity, they should report it to the police or railway staff. Special crime prevention and detection squads and women cops will also be deployed to a keep tab on criminal activities.”
