Rohtak-Bathinda rail line electrification to begin on Saturday

Union railways minister Suresh Prabhu will inaugurate the commencement of the electrification of Rohtak-Bathinda-Lehra Mohabbat rail line costing Rs 294 crore on Saturday at Rohtak railway station.

An official spokesman said that Haryana chief minister ML Khattar, Union rural development minister Birender Singh, MPs Deepender Hooda, Shadi Lal Batra and MLA Manish Kumar Grover would also attend the function.

He said that the main benefits of the project would be seamless operation on electric traction, higher speed, introduction of mainline electric multiple unit (memu) services, reduction in journey time, reduced dependence on high speed diesel oil, improved energy security and eco-friendly mode of transport.
