'SAD claims of being custodian of Sikh Panth sham'

Punjab Youth Congress (PYC) president Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary on Saturday said the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal Punjab (SAD), which claims itself to be the custodian of the Sikh Panth, presents a vast contrast in terms of their deeds, thoughts and actions.
Addressing the party workers, he said the SAD was interested not in the rich heritage, but in the rich booty these religious places earn that was monitored by the SAD patronised organisation the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
He further said that he felt humbled on touching the sacred soil of great heritage places of the Sikh religion. He lamented: “We have a rich history of Sikh gurus, who sacrificed their families for humanity, which has no example anywhere in the world. The sacrifice of Sikh Guru Gobind Singh is unparallel in the annals of the Sikh history.”
“The youth today is grappling with unemployment and reeling under the influence of drugs. We cannot ignore the big haul of synthetic drugs worth `100 crore on Saturday and drugs worth `85 crore on October 6. It is a stark reality that the situation has now out of control of the ruling alliance, and hence, the tall and false promises made by deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal for public consumption,” he added.
Hinting hard at the state government on deteriorating law and order situation in the state, Chaudhary cited an example of MalalaYusufzai, a 16-year-old girl, who dared Taliban and barely survived a shootout by Taliban, who took objection to her propagating education and independence of women in Pakistan, whereas as the ruling class in Punjab harps on its personal channel about 'Nanhi Chahan', but the organisation is totally tight lipped when a police officer's father dies of bullets while saving his daughter from elements of 'the rogue army' of the SAD.
They do not miss a chance to eulogise terrorists living or dead. Incidents of chain snatching, rape and burning of brides is a daily affair in Punjab.
He said the Youth Congress had a challenging task ahead - to let the people know about the reality, and make them aware about the pro-poor projects of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, especially the constitutional rights for all and one for which the Youth Congress was distributing literature.
The yatra was joined by former MLA Harbans Kaur Dullo and Fatehgarh Sahib District Congress Committee president Harinder Singh Bhambri.
