Six of a three-wheeler gang held for robbing passengers

The CIA men of the Ludhiana police commissionerate have arrested six of a gang of three-wheeler drivers allegedly involved in robbing passengers boarding their vehicles.

The CIA men of the Ludhiana police commissionerate have arrested six of a gang of three-wheeler drivers allegedly involved in robbing passengers boarding their vehicles.

Police have recovered from their possession a three-wheeler, keys, a saw and an iron rod.

The accused have been identified by police as Mohammad Israhil, Mohammad Shah Alam, Mohammad Irshad, Vijay Kumar (all residents of Star Colony, Manakwal), Jasvir Singh, alias, Kala, of Barewal Awana village and Mohammad Aslam of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.

Hailing from Bihar, the accused had taken the three-wheelers on rent, which they used to ply on railway station and bus stand routes.

Divulging details, assistant commissioner of police (ACP) (crime) Gurbans Singh Bains said the accused used to ferry passengers in late night hours from railway stations and bus stands to isolated places and robbed them of their luggage and other belongings.

Following a tip-off, police arrested the accused from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar main road late on Sunday evening, said the ACP, adding that the accused purportedly confessed their involvement in 50 such cases.
