Heavy police force was deputed in the village as the word spread.

Badhni Kalan DSP Jaswinder Singh Gharu said someone had pasted a handwritten threat call on the door of Sanjha Morcha candidate Gursewak Singh Menia on Saturday night and he noticed it on Sunday morning.

"In the threat call, the candidate has been directed to stop campaigning for the sarpanch's post; in case he failed to follow the directions, he would be eliminated," said the DSP. "We have started investigations," he said.

Former sarpanch Shinder Pal Singh of the SAD is contesting against Sanjha Morcha candidate Gursewak Singh in the village; the Congress is supporting the Sanjha Morcha candidate.

"I have no rivalry with anyone. It seems somebody has pasted the threat note to stop me from contesting the elections, but I will go ahead with it. I have requested the city police to provide me security," said Gursewak Singh.
