Three booked for torturing married woman

The Nakodar city police have charged husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law of newly married woman subjecting her to cruelty. Investigating officer, assistant sub inspector Sukhwinderpal Singh, said the accused have been identified as Sandeep Kumar of Mohalla Bahadurpura, his father and mother.

Suman, wife of Sandeep who has been admitted at the Jalandhar civil hospital is in a serious condition after she tried to committ suicide by setting herself on fire Sunday night. Judicial magistrate Jalandhar, Amit Kumar Garg said she was married to Sandeep Kumar six months ago and was being tortured physically and mentally.

A case under Section 498-A has been registered against the accused.
