The Narendarpura station falls between Mansa - Bareta and the Intercity Express from Ganganagar to Delhi, usually crosses the station at high speed.

On Thursday, the stop signal was on, which was ignored, but fortunately the driver, Gurcharan Singh, managed to brake in time. Still, the two trains did mildly brush against each other. No one was injured, but passengers did panic for some time.

The driver has been suspended for negligence. He was divested of the charge and a new driver Om Prakash was handed over the charge to reroute the train.

Narendarpura SHO Harpal Singh said, "The accident was averted, but driver Gurcharan Singh was at fault. A departmental inquiry has been initiated against him."
